It's 9pm Eastern time and polls have just closed for the special election in New York's 26th congressional district. We'll be bringing you updates as they come in.

Results: AP | Buffalo News | WIVB

9:11 PM PT: As we wait for results to come in, I can tell you that the average guess for the Daily Kos Elections predictions contest was 45.0% Hochul; 42.8% Corwin; 10.6% Davis; 1.5% Murphy.

9:19 PM PT: The first 15 precincts are in (mostly from Niagara Co.) and have Jane Corwin leading Kathy Hochul 44-43, with Jack Davis at 12 and Ian Murphy at 1. (And sorry about the timestamp confusion. It probably says "PT" but is showing ET. We're getting that fixed.)

9:23 PM PT: It's early, of course, but these Niagara precincts gave John McCain about 58% of the vote in 2008 - yet Hochul is tied here.

9:26 PM PT: With 87 precincts in (out of 627), it's 46-43-10 Hochul.

9:30 PM PT: About 18% of the vote's been counted, and Hochul's moved out to a 48-42 lead.

9:37 PM PT: We just jumped up to a third of the vote counted, and Hochul continues to lead, 48-42.

9:40 PM PT: Follow us in the new thread here.
